General
- Become accustomed to playing with others
- Have fun
- Follow play without being with the ball (advancing beyond the "swarm")
- Only rule: ball out of bounds - ball goes over any of the field's boundaries (end and touch lines). A coach should quickly kick the ball back into play to ensure continuity of play.
Dribbling Skill Development
- Forward dribbling --Features to encourage:
- Ball should touch lace area of shoes, toes naturally down as when running without a ball
- Keep the ball close enough to be able to stop or turn it easily Have the ball close to the feet when going slow, farther out when going fast
- Try dribbling with both left and right foot
Passing Skill Development
Push pass using the inside of the foot
- Look for team-mate to pass to
- Plant left foot next to the ball - the toes point in the direction the ball is going to go
- As right foot strikes the ball, toes should point up thus providing a solid club-like surface. The foot strikes the ball in the centre to keep the ball on the ground.
Shooting on goal
- Use laces
- The foot should continue moving all the way through the ball, driving the foot through the ball
